Windows 8 can be tricky to navigate. Microsoft wanted a unified operating system that would be useful for both desktops and tablets and as a result, it completely revamped the menus. Unfortunately, this became very confusing and frustrating for the average desktop or laptop user.

Luckily, you can quickly and easily install a simple program to save yourself the time and frustration of relearning your computer. It’s actually quite easy to make your computer look and feel just like previous versions of Windows.

The program I recommend is called Start 8 and it’s made by a company named Stardock. It’s the first thing I install for any client that has purchased a Windows 8 computer. The program is only $5 and you can even start with a free 30 day trial.

I find Start 8 to be very easy to download and install. If you start with a 30 day trial, it’s easy to purchase and activate at a later time. The application is regularly updated to keep up with the updates that Microsoft releases for Windows 8. It runs reliably, I’ve actually NEVER had an issue with it. Over the 5 year life span of your computer, the convenience it provides, the time and frustration it saves you, it’s the best $5 you’ll ever spend.
